Having over 175 warehouse club stores in 16 states along the east coast of the U.S. is the BJ's WHOLESALE CLUB chain comparable to Costco and Wal-mart's Sam's club operations. Of their total sales food accounts for roughly 61% of their business. ( Photos courtesy of the BJ's Wholesale website )

Based in the state of New York in the U.S. is the BRAVO SUPERMARKETS chain of stores which are all independently owned and operated. Most of their locations are within the city of New York but they also have stores in New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and the state of Florida.

Based in the state of Michigan in the U.S. is the family owned BUSCH'S chain of 15 mid sized supermarkets ranging in size between 26,000 and 54,000 square feet. ( Photos courtesy of the Busch's website )

Throughout Spain there are over 300 CAPRABO stores of all shapes and sizes. They are 75% owned by the EROSKI GROUP who in turn are owned / operated by the MONDRAGÓN CORPORACIÓN COOPERATIVA which is a corporate cooperative of over 260 companies. ( Photos courtesy of the Caprabo website )

ANGELO CAPUTO'S FRESH MARKETS is a family owned chain with 6 stores in and around the Chicago area in the U.S. state of Illinois. Focusing on fresh products and variety, they offer wide product selection to their customers. For example they have over 496 varieties of fruit and vegetables. Present in over 30 countries is France's CARREFOUR GROUP who globally are ranked #2 by sales after Wal-mart. With over 14,500 stores and still growing, they cover all areas of food retail ; Supermarket, Hypermarket, Convenience, Cash & Carry and more. Based in Hungary and present in Middle European countries like Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and more is the CBA chain who in 2001 established a consortium with other retailers to enable their expansion beyond Hungary and offered them greater purchasing power as a larger business. Another Chicago, Illinois chain in the U.S. with 6 stores is LA CHIQUITA SUPERMERCADOS . As you can see their stores are designed to appeal to the Hispanic community and with that, all of their stores also include an on premises Mexican restaurant. ( Photos courtesy of the Chiquita website )

From British Columbia, Canada comes the CHOICES MARKETS chain of natural / organic foods. Founded in 1990 by brothers Wayne and Lloyd Lockhart the ownership of their 8 store business remains theirs.

Operating under three banners in Singapore are stores that make up the COLD STORAGE company which is a subsidiary of DAIRY FARM INTERNATIONAL of Hong Kong with a grand total of over 4300 stores.
