MISCALLANEOUS REPORTS :
As part of this site, I hope to include as much free information about the food retail industry as is possible and with that, on this page I hope to include relevant and informative reports that I have found on the net.
One of the best sources for generalized retail information that I have found is through the United States Department of Agriculture ( USDA ) Foreign Agriculture Service Retail Food Sector reports on countries from around the world.
They are reports done regularly ( some dating back several years ) by Attache's at embassies and consulates to provide those in the industry with insights into the food retail trade and import / export information for the specific countries as it relates to the U.S. Overall, they provide a good picture of each country's retail businesses, trends etc. I have found them to be an excellent resource. The following are 10 reports for some of the major food retailing countries from around the globe. Just click on the flag to open / download the file.
All files are in the Adobe PDF format. Follow this link to their free reader if you don't already have it : http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html Also available free around the internet are assorted reports from magazines and research companies that are just as relevant and informative in increasing knowledge on the food retailing industry and retailing in general. A few of the best, I am including here :
Britain............Canada.........Brazil..........China.........France.........Germany.......Italy...........Japan.........Russia
Spain
The next report by Stores magazine of the National Retail Federation details the overall retail scene recapping the most recent years and looking forward. It's an annual report titled " Global Powers of Retailing "
A census report done by Discount Store News on the overall retail industry in the U.S. with great detail on company structures, trends etc. Great information.
Saving the best for last, perhaps my favourite report that I've come across over the years, this one titled " Towards Private Label Success " done by Australia's Coriolis Research in 2002 provides a great deal of information on Private Label in food retailing with great information on backgrounds and trends for companies from around the world including Loblaws, Safeway U.S., Tesco, Carrefour and more. Coriolis has a number of reports available free for download on their site at the link above including an excellent report on Retail Globalisation. I recommend checking their site out. They have been kind enough to allow me to make their report available on www.foodretailworld.com. It's great when a company will offer free reports to those who are interested and I'm sure they would love any feedback you may have. If you have comments or questions on the Towards Private Label Success report included here, please feel free to contact them at mailto:info@coriolisresearch.com but please let them know you saw the report here.
